EASTBOURNE- August Reviews
Meg: The Sword in the Grotto by Angie Sage.
Book 2 of the Araminta Spookie series

Sian: The Magician's Nephew by C.S.Lewis
Recommended by Sian for all Narnia fans. The prequel to The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, it tells the story of the creation of the land of Narnia and how two children Digory and Polly accidentally bring an evil witch into the new world.
Holly: The Last Elf by Silvana De Mari
It is the story of Yorsh, the last elf in a fantasy world where elves are despised. A funny adventure involving an old and annoying dragon,a brave little girl and a prophecy engraved on an orphanage wall, which also has a more serious side. The parallel between the plight of the elves and the Jews is very clear and the book is about the triumph of freedom and friendship over dictatorship and racism. A hilarious and enjoyable book with a deeper message for the reader. Also available as "The Last Dragon", it is being made into an animated film.

Eastborne's Dice Story:
Here is our story. The words at the top are the story-dice throw, which we then had to weave a story around.
DISCOVERY SPACE VILLAIN LETTER GAME
When I was down in the basement, I discovered a letter game. Like Scrabble, but different. Once you have found it you have to play! If you can’t finish the game, a miniature villain will send your favourite pet into space
I really love Woodie, my pet grimble, so I decided to play and win.
Just as I reached level 99, a message flashed up saying, “Look out behind you!!”
I spun around. No-one there.
“Ha ha you lose!” shrieked the miniature villain. “I take Woodie!”
“Wait for me!” I yelled, and jumped into the game board.
Zoooooooommmmmmmm!!!!!!! Oh no! I’m in outer space!!
