March Event Updates

Hutt City Libraries are taking some extra steps for our customers

  • We’ve extended loan periods on Hutt City Libraries books, CDs, and DVDs to reduce the need for you to come into the library.
  • We’re taking some shared items, including toys and games, out of circulation.
  • We are suspending some events where attendance is expected to be large, the audience is vulnerable, or where activities involve food or shared objects.

We will ask you to sign in to events that are going ahead, in case the Ministry of Health needs to do contact tracing afterwards. See below for a full list of postponements and cancellations.

All our eResources remain available online 24/7.

Hutt City Council is playing our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19

Here are some of the steps we’re taking, and where we’ll need your support, as we all have a role to play:

  • We’re cleaning and sanitising our facilities more often, and also the equipment in them
  • We’re also taking some shared items like toys and games out of circulation
  • We’re ensuring we have plenty of soap and hand sanitizer at all our facilities, and encouraging everyone to wash their hands for twenty seconds, sneeze into their armpits and avoid touching their faces
  • We’re encouraging social distancing, which is staying two metres away from other people at all times. We’re also discouraging physical contact, including handshakes, high fives and holding hands
  • We’re asking everyone who is sick or has returned from overseas in the last 14 days not to come to our facilities, and to self-isolate for 14 days
In usual circumstances we leave it up to individuals to make a decision on whether they’re well enough to attend events and activities. In these circumstances staff may need to approach people who look unwell, so please don’t take offense if this happens to you.
