Staff Reads

Hi! I'm Aimee - library assistant at Naenae Library and Mum to two awesome kids. I am also lucky enough to lead our Naenae Library book group every month with our Adult Services Librarian, Taitu. The theme of our book group is always changing so I read loads of fantastic fiction of every genre. I especially enjoy mysteries and contemporary fiction and I love reading non-fiction that reflects and informs me as a mother and a woman.

Hi I’m Jeff. My reading is eclectic and my Picks reflect that. You’ll find books on architecture, music, gardens, art, photography, writers, and more. I’ve written a review for all my picks so click the Read Reviews button on the catalogue record to see what I thought of it. If you borrow one of my Picks consider writing your own review of it - particularly if you disagree with my opinion. Enjoy!

Hi! I’m Tams, from Petone Library, my reading can be a bit eclectic if I come across something that's an intriguing thought experiment but generally I lean towards zoology in nonfiction and towards fantasy(incl urban)/scifi, uplit, LGBTQ (but no tragic endings!) in adult and young adult novels in fiction. Across all genres, I enjoy novel, short story, and graphic novel formats and will often be drawn to a book that has an absurdist fun element, or other times embodies diversity or is a challenge to injustice.

Hi, I'm interested in adventure stories, history and biographies, with some fiction thrown in the mix. I’m attracted to stories involving conquering adversity, an extreme challenge or event, and also ones involving getting back to nature. Think hiking, cycling and other active activities for seemingly long distances or periods of time, or leaving the rat race for that peaceful idea of utopia.
